ERGENS ANDERS (Somewhere else) was the title of my major solo exhibition in 2012 at the Centre for Visual Arts 'De Fabriek' in Emmen, in the east of the Netherlands.
For the end wall of the large hall, I created 'Bindi II’, a piece consisting of 611 embroidered dots in a variety of colours, inspired by a small book of bindi dots that I bought during my trip to India in 2011. I also exhibited the mixed media works 'De Naam en het Land' (The Name and the Land) and 'Au bord de l'Eau' (At the Water's Edge), as well as the video 'Bowls'.

As I sit by the sea, I feel the dry, warm sand between my fingers.
I let it run through my fingers, find little rings of shell, once cones.
The sea has sanded them into shape, perhaps by flowing past the nearby rocks.
I pick them up and put them together to make a collection.
The sea rustles; there are no other sounds.
There is no one in sight, just sand, little rings, and a sea stretching to the horizon.
